Just As He Is

Shepherd struggles with the decision to accept or reject God. I think
most of us have been there at one time or another, standing at the
crossroads, pondering whether God is really real and asking ourselves
more than once if God is who He says He is. We've all seen television
commercials. Products are advertised, and we go out and purchase them.
But sometimes when we open the box, we find the product is not at all
what was presented in the commercial. When corporations advertise
something other than the product's true attributes it is called false
advertising. This is not the case with God. He is who he says He is.
We all have unique personalities and
abilities,
our own set of likes, dislikes, and idiosyncrasies. And when we meet
someone or interact with someone we've already established a
relationship with, we hope that person will accept us for who we are.
God desires the same thing. He wants us to accept him for who He is.
The world often has a stereotypical view of God. Some believe He's a
magical force, an aura floating through the universe, hovering over us
from time to time. Others believe He is only a God of judgment, there
to strike us whenever we make a mistake. God's Word tells us who He is.
He is a merciful Father (Psalms 103). Perhaps you don't know God this
way or maybe you don't know Him as well as you would like. Here are
some scriptures that will help you understand a little more about His
unique and never-changing personality.
God loves. "For the Father himself loves
you,
because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God"
—John 16:27, NKJV.
God forgives and forgets. "You have
lovingly
delivered my soul from the pit of corruption, For You have cast all my
sins behind Your back" —Isaiah 38:17b, NKJV.
God comforts. "He heals the
brokenhearted,
binding up their wounds" —Psalms 147:3, NLT.
God provides. "My God shall supply all
your
need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" —Philippians
4:19, NKJV.
God is faithful. "For I will be with you
as I
was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you" —Joshua 1:5b,
NLT.
These are simply a few of the attributes of
God.
You may know others. If not, try to find out as much as you can about
Him and fully accept Him for who He is. I assure you, your life will
never be the same!
