Tia McCollors
Interview with author, Tia McCollors

SP: Welcome to Soul Pen, Tia! It's wonderful to have you as a guest again.

Tia: I'm happy to be back! All you have to do is say the word and I'll check in with you guys any time!

SP: Congratulations on the success you've had with your first novel, A Heart of Devotion. For those who haven't read it, it's a great story, so get it and begin reading it today. Also get ready for Tia's second book, Zora's Cry. Tia, tell us about Zora's Cry and when it will be available.

Tia: Thanks, Mata! A Heart of Devotion has definitely been a blessing to me, and from the emails I've received, to readers as well. I pray it will be the same for my upcoming June release, Zora's Cry.

The theme for Zora's Cry is Four Women...Four Lives...One God. The main character, Zora Bridgeforth, has recently found out she's adopted. Her devastation and hurt leads her to want to search for her biological family. In the meantime, she joins a multi-church women's dsicipleship group and ends up finding the joy of friendship with three women in her group--Monet Sullivan, Paula Manns, and Belinda Stokes. Each of these women is harboring their own issues. It's not until they learn to drop their facades that they find healing through each other's testimonies.

SP:
How has your faith influenced the stories you write?

Tia: My faith influences everything I do because my relationship with God is who I am. There's no separation of the two. I know my purpose is to write stories that lead readers back to the heart of God. My novels show that God reigns in every situation, even the ones that you think He's turned his back on. That's the kind of faith that He's building in me...in all of us.

SP: What are a few of the lessons you have learned that you would like to pass on to those who would like to write Christian fiction?

Tia:  I can share with you one BIG lesson. I've probably said this you before, but I ALWAYS tell people to write the story that God has given them and not what the current trend dictates. There was a time I ripped up pages that I knew weren't what God had given me. I was too busy trying to build drama to the story instead of writing it the way God was whispering it in my ear. Sometimes He may not want you to end the chapter with a page turner like the "writing rules" suggest. Sometimes, a reader may need to close the book and listen to the voice of God. I've also listed some brief writing tips on my website at www.TiaMcCollors.com.

SP: You are one of the participants of Anointed Authors On Tour. Tell us about this exciting nationwide event and where readers and writers can find more information if they would like to attend.

Tia: It's definitely going to be exciting. I'm joining Christian authors Kendra Norman-Bellamy, Vanessa Miller, Michelle Stimpson, Norma Jarrett, Shewanda Riley, and Vivi Monroe Congress on a tour to five cities. We're kicking the event off in August in Atlanta. We've been regularly praying and meeting to make this tour successful. It's going to be a great way to connect with readers face to face. More information can be found at our website at www.AnointedAuthorsOnTour.com. The authors are also hosting a Read Along and online chat each month with our books and that information can be found on the website as well. Please come out and support us and spread the word!

SP: Tia, you are an inspiration to women and writers. Thank you for joining us today. We wish you the best as you continue on your journey.

Tia: Thank you, Mata. And I can't wait to get a hold of your new book. I didn't even see it coming! Our paths will definitely cross soon on the road. Congratulations and blessings to you, too!

SP:  Thank you, Tia. God bless!
