Mercy Mercy MeIn case you haven’t heard, relationship therapist and bestselling author, Dr. Ronn Elmore has taken readers down the fiction road with Mercy, Mercy Me. With energy and intrigue, Elmore immediately drives readers to the edge, opening with a scene that places central character Dwayne Grandison, already reeling from the unexpected death of his wife, in the spin of a scandal that threatens to destroy the prominent young doctor’s career, ministry, and even some of his closest relationships.

Female and male readers alike should find the course of Grandison’s liaison with two beautiful and successful women engaging. Former child star, Nina Jordan, seeks Grandison’s help with a church program for men, while Evangelist Beverlyn Boudreaux recruits him for a spot on her television network. Charming in their own ways, Dwayne Grandison is smitten by both females. Grandison is also loving the climb up the ladder of fame and wealth until the ground below is rocked by treacherous hands, and he slips down the rungs, but not without discovering that what the enemy designed to cripple him, God will use to bless him.

While there are spiritual themes laced throughout Elmore’s novel, it is not preachy. And a sprinkle of scenes that take place with Grandison and his clients add an enjoyable dose of humor. Many readers will likely appreciate the strong values of this contemporary African-American family. I was especially drawn to the way Grandison and his brother remained committed to taking their cares to God in united prayer. Thank you, Dr. Elmore, for this inspirational story.
