I had the privilege of becoming acquainted with main character, Serena, in the first book of the series, speak to my heart. It was a pleasure to catch up with the characters again in Stacy Hawkins Adams' new novel, nothing but the right thing.

Serena is married now, the first lady in her husband’s life, and the first-lady of the church he pastors. Serena faces the challenges of standing beside him as their lives suddenly change and her dreams of motherhood are pushed away again. Will the desire of her heart ever be fulfilled? Will her faith remain steadfast even if God says no?

Serena’s also concerned about her estranged friend Erika. Married to a man who uses her as a punching bag, Erika decides she deserves better. But leaving her abusive husband means leaving the life she’s accustomed to and becoming independent, a step that leads her to a shelter where she finds others with wounds like her own.

While lives are changed, lessons are learned, and faith is tested, Serena and Erika connect the loose strings of their relationship and eventually share a gift that will bind them together forever. Undoubtedly, nothing but the right thing, is a tender story of heartbreak, healing, and the hope that God alone supplies.
