Tiffany L. Warren, the author of the highly acclaimed novel, What A Sista Should Do,
returns to the literary stage. Warren’s
latest novel, Farther
than I Meant to Go, Longer than I Meant to Stay is the story of
Charmayne Ellis. Thirty-something Charmayne is an attractive,
independent, and successful modern-day woman. She’s on her way up the
corporate ladder and serving wholeheartedly in ministry at her church.
So what’s missing in Charmayne’s life? According to her mother and
sister, it's not what but who. Charmayne
is incomplete without a man. So when a handsome, hard-working gentleman
convinces Charmayne that he is the man
God has for her, her family supports her decision to marry. But as
Charmayne heads toward the altar she continues to feel unsure about her
choice. Is she marrying the man God has chosen for her or is she
marrying out of desperation and the fear that she might always be
single?
Warren’s
novel is a powerful one, reminding each of us that the voice of God is
never wrong and that God cares so much about each of us that He always
picks the best route for our lives—if we allow Him. Clearly evident in
this novel of faith is the message that although we make mistakes and
sometimes take hard falls, God is forgiving and willing to place us
back on our feet.
Like the last time, Warren
has created an irresistible page-turner, and readers will undoubtedly
be asking for another story.
